Before joining the venture‑capital firm, Satvat was the Business Development Director for Tencent Games, where he helped shape strategic partnerships and expansion initiatives. He also founded and runs Always Supporting the Games Community (ASGC), an organization that connects job‑seekers with opportunities across the gaming industry. "I wanted a role where the impact of my decisions would be felt directly by the teams I work with, and where I could help get people back to work on games they love," Satvat explained.

"I’m passionate about turning developers' dreams into reality, especially for smaller studios that often struggle to find the right backers. I also wanted to be part of a community‑first environment." He added, "My final wish was to work alongside colleagues who share the same values and integrity I strive for.

Satvat also praised 1Up's unique position in the ecosystem: "1Up is a crucial player in the games investing landscape, and I hope its distinctive approach endures for many years to come." This allowed us to stay fiercely independent for 26 years before becoming part of PlayStation Studios." He continued, "The leadership transition has been carefully planned behind the scenes. On July 1, Sami ‘Haxu’ Hakala officially assumed the Managing Director role, and I have continued to support him and the rest of the leadership team to ensure smooth operational continuity.
