Paris Games Week Aims to Unite Southern European Studios and Expand Pop Culture Reach
The 2023 edition of Paris Games Week is slated to return to the French capital in November, with the team behind the event striving to reclaim its pre-pandemic glory. Dubbed 'Next level', this year's edition promises an enhanced experience, with a huge local showcase and increased engagement with gaming culture and related sectors. Beyond the usual publishers, platform holders, and development studios, Paris Games Week is keen to attract streaming platforms, anime and manga specialists, esports and cosplay companies, as well as the broader pop culture landscape. The event's organiser, SELL, is committed to providing a hands-on experience, with a focus on yet-to-be-released games and a well-attended show floor. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and the shift towards digital events, SELL remains confident in the value of physical events, citing the success of the 2022 edition, which saw the return of major platform holders. The team is working to build on this momentum, with plans to develop the event's B2B aspect and become a key destination for studios in Southern Europe. A business convention, Game Connection, will run alongside Paris Games Week, with discussions underway to create a larger networking evening and invite more investors. SELL aims to establish Paris Games Week as a hub for Southern European studios, showcasing their talent and providing a platform for connection and growth. With a target attendance of 200,000 to 250,000, the event is poised to become a major player in the gaming and pop culture landscape.
