The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) has unveiled the first batch of participants for its newly launched Supernova incubation initiative, selecting fifteen independent studios from a pool of over 260 applications. This marks a significant milestone for the Indian gaming ecosystem, as the program aims to nurture nascent talent and accelerate the growth of studios that have not yet generated revenue. Supernova, which kicked off in July 2026, is structured as a three‑month intensive accelerator.

Chosen studios receive hands‑on mentorship from seasoned industry veterans, access to a suite of technology and marketing credits, and curated introductions to potential investors and publishing partners. The culmination of the program will be a high‑visibility Demo Day, scheduled to take place during the upcoming India Game Developers Conference (IGDC), where each studio will have the opportunity to showcase its prototype or early‑stage product to a broad audience of publishers, investors, and media. The initiative is delivered in collaboration with a roster of prominent partners, including Tencent, IVIPRO, SpielFabrique, Indus Appstore, Mintegral, and Lakshya Digital.

Indus Appstore, in particular, has pledged to provide participating studios with "priority onboarding and ad credits to jump‑start user acquisition," ensuring that developers can begin testing and scaling their games with a built‑in audience and monetisation support. "The selection of this inaugural cohort marks the beginning of a focused journey for these 15 studios," said Rajan Navani, a board member and chair of GDAI's Incubation Subcommittee. "Over the next three months, Supernova will bring together mentors, technology partners, publishers and investors to help each studio address its specific development and business priorities." Navani emphasized that the program is designed not only to refine game design and technical execution but also to impart essential business skills such as fundraising, marketing strategy, and international distribution.

The fifteen studios that earned a place in the program are: - Absurd Games - Team Quasar - AbhiTech Games - Konkan Coast Studios - Dunali Games - Chitrakala Interactive - Ashdev Studios - Compiling Shaders - Brahman Studios - Yaari Games - Funwave Studio - Arcadon Games - Shivaansh Artvision - AnonVision Creative Labs - Parkince These studios represent a diverse cross‑section of India's emerging game development talent, ranging from small teams focused on mobile casual experiences to more ambitious groups experimenting with narrative‑driven or multiplayer titles. By providing a shared platform for mentorship and resources, Supernova aims to level the playing field, allowing creators from varied backgrounds to compete on a global stage. GDAI, which advocates for more than 200 member studios across the country, positions Supernova as a cornerstone of its broader mission to foster talent development, expand international outreach, and influence policy that supports the gaming sector. The association has long championed initiatives that bridge the gap between education and industry, and the launch of Supernova aligns with its goal of reaching over 25,000 students nationwide through workshops, scholarships, and collaborative projects.

Beyond the immediate benefits for the selected studios, the program is expected to generate ripple effects throughout the Indian gaming landscape. By showcasing successful case studies and best practices, Supernova will provide a blueprint for future cohorts and inspire other incubators, venture funds, and corporate partners to invest in early‑stage developers.

Moreover, the involvement of global players such as Tencent signals confidence in India's creative capacity and could open doors for cross‑border collaborations, co‑development deals, and distribution agreements. In addition to mentorship and financial incentives, participating studios will gain access to technical resources from partners like Mintegral, which offers advanced analytics and monetisation tools, and Lakshya Digital, known for its expertise in user acquisition and growth hacking.

These partnerships are designed to equip developers with the data‑driven insights needed to optimise gameplay loops, improve retention, and maximise revenue potential. The Demo Day at IGDC will serve as a critical showcase, allowing each studio to present a polished demo or prototype to a curated audience of publishers, investors, and media representatives. This exposure not only raises the profile of the individual studios but also highlights the vibrancy and innovation of India's indie game scene on an international platform.

Overall, the Supernova program reflects a strategic effort by GDAI and its partners to cultivate a sustainable pipeline of high‑quality games emerging from India. By combining mentorship, financial support, and strategic industry connections, the initiative seeks to transform promising ideas into market‑ready products, thereby strengthening the country's position in the rapidly expanding global gaming market.
