The Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) has unveiled the inaugural roster of its Supernova incubation initiative, naming fifteen game studios that will participate after a competitive selection process that attracted more than 260 applications. This marks a significant milestone for the Indian gaming ecosystem, as the association seeks to nurture home‑grown talent and accelerate the growth of studios that are still in the pre‑revenue phase.
The Supernova program, which officially kicked off in July 2026, is designed as a three‑month intensive accelerator. Chosen studios will receive a blend of mentorship from seasoned industry veterans, access to valuable technology and marketing credits, and curated introductions to potential investors and publishing partners. At the conclusion of the program, the cohort will have the chance to showcase their projects at a dedicated Demo Day held during this year’s India Game Developers Conference (IGDC), providing a high‑visibility platform to attract further funding and publishing deals. A number of prominent partners are collaborating with GDAI to deliver the program’s resources.
Tencent, a global gaming powerhouse, will contribute expertise and possibly co‑publishing opportunities. IVIPRO, SpielFabrique, Mintegral and Lakshya Digital are also on board, each offering specialized support ranging from technical tools to distribution channels.
Notably, Indus Appstore has committed to giving participating studios priority onboarding on its platform along with a bundle of advertising credits. These credits are intended to jump‑start user acquisition campaigns, helping studios to quickly build an audience for their early titles.
"The formation of this first Supernova cohort represents the beginning of a focused, collaborative journey for these fifteen studios," said Rajan Navani, a board member of GDAI and chair of its Incubation Subcommittee. "Over the next twelve weeks, we will bring together mentors, technology partners, publishers and investors to address each studio’s unique development challenges and business objectives.
Our goal is to equip them with the knowledge, connections and resources they need to transition from concept to market‑ready product." The studios selected for the program are a diverse mix of creators, each bringing a distinct creative vision and technical skill set: - Absurd Games - Team Quasar - AbhiTech Games - Konkan Coast Studios - Dunali Games - Chitrakala Interactive - Ashdev Studios - Compiling Shaders - Brahman Studios - Yaari Games - Funwave Studio - Arcadon Games - Shivaansh Artvision - AnonVision Creative Labs - Parkince These companies range from small indie teams focused on narrative-driven experiences to technically ambitious groups experimenting with emerging technologies such as augmented reality and blockchain‑based economies. By providing a common incubator environment, Supernova aims to foster cross‑pollination of ideas, encouraging studios to learn from each other's successes and setbacks. GDAI, which represents more than 200 member studios across the country, views Supernova as a natural extension of its broader mission. The association has long been involved in talent development through workshops, mentorship schemes, and academic collaborations.
It also engages in global outreach, positioning Indian studios on the international stage, and advocates for policies that support a vibrant gaming industry. The launch of Supernova aligns with these objectives, offering a structured pathway for emerging developers to scale their operations and compete globally. In addition to the core mentorship and credit packages, the program will feature a series of masterclasses covering topics such as game design fundamentals, monetisation strategies, live‑ops management, and navigating the complex regulatory landscape of gaming in India. Experts from partner organizations—including Tencent’s publishing team, Indus Appstore’s user‑acquisition specialists, and Mintegral’s ad‑tech engineers—will lead these sessions, ensuring that participants receive up‑to‑date, actionable insights.
The three‑month timeline is deliberately compact to maintain momentum while still allowing sufficient time for studios to iterate on prototypes, refine their pitch decks, and develop a go‑to‑market plan. At the Demo Day, each studio will present a polished demo or vertical slice of their game to a curated audience of investors, publishers, media representatives and fellow developers. Successful pitches could result in seed funding, publishing contracts, or strategic partnerships that accelerate the studios’ growth beyond the incubation period.
Looking ahead, GDAI hopes that Supernova will become an annual fixture, scaling up to accommodate more studios and expanding its network of partners. The association has set an ambitious target of reaching over 25,000 students nationwide through its educational initiatives, and the visibility generated by the Supernova cohort is expected to inspire a new generation of game creators.
In summary, the first Supernova cohort represents a concerted effort by the Game Developer Association of India, its industry partners, and the selected studios to catalyse the next wave of Indian gaming innovation. By blending mentorship, financial incentives, and strategic exposure, the program aims to transform promising concepts into commercially viable products, strengthening India’s position in the global gaming market.
