Microsoft-Activision Blizzard Deal Faces EU Objection

According to a recent report, Microsoft's planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard is set to encounter resistance from the European Union due to antitrust concerns. The European Commission is allegedly preparing to submit a statement of objections to Microsoft within the coming weeks. This development comes as the Commission works towards a decision deadline of April 11. Although the Commission has declined to comment, a Microsoft spokesperson stated that the company is cooperating with the European Commission to alleviate any concerns, with the ultimate goal of expanding gaming accessibility. This EU challenge is accompanied by a formal objection from the US Federal Trade Commission, which recently filed to block the acquisition. Meanwhile, the UK Competition and Markets Authority is still conducting its investigation, having extended its deadline to April 26, with provisional findings expected by mid-February.
