Justin Roiland Charged with Domestic Violence

Justin Roiland, CEO and co-founder of Squanch Games, is currently facing felony charges related to an alleged domestic violence incident in January 2020. According to reports from NBC News, Roiland has been accused of domestic battery with corporal injury and false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and/or deceit. He has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to both charges in 2020, with his attorney expressing confidence that the case will be dismissed. A protective order has been issued against Roiland, which will remain in effect until October of this year. This development has brought renewed attention to Roiland's career, which spans both the gaming and animation industries. In addition to his work on Rick and Morty, Roiland co-founded Squanch Games in 2016 and served as its chief creative officer until 2021, when he assumed the role of CEO. In a separate incident, a former Squanch Games employee has come forward with allegations of sexual harassment, claiming she was terminated after reporting the misconduct. The lawsuit, which was initially filed in 2018, was settled in September 2019.
