Frontier Developments announced a landmark set of financial results in its latest trade update, confirming that the company has achieved its most profitable year to date. Adjusted operating profit for the fiscal year 2026 climbed 62 percent, reaching £21.4 million – a figure that eclipses every prior record in the studio’s history. The British‑based developer attributed this impressive jump to a combination of strong market performance, disciplined cost‑control measures, and a boost from higher tax credits and expenditure allowances. The company highlighted that, even when the one‑off £3.9 million gain from the sale of publishing rights in the previous year is stripped out, adjusted operating profit more than doubled on a year‑on‑year basis.

This underlying growth underscores the resilience of Frontier’s core business model and the effectiveness of its strategic initiatives. Revenue also saw a healthy uplift, expanding 16 percent to £104.8 million.

The increase was driven primarily by the continued success of flagship franchises such as Jurassic World Evolution 3, Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo. These titles have maintained strong player engagement and have generated steady streams of downloadable content, micro‑transactions and expansion packs, all of which contributed to the top‑line rise. Operating profit surged even more dramatically, climbing 97 percent to £25.0 million. Frontier explained that this surge reflected solid underlying trading performance, complemented by a one‑off transitional tax credit of £4.4 million that further enhanced profitability for the period.

In addition to the financial highlights, Frontier disclosed several important leadership changes. Dan Lazarides was appointed chief marketing officer in the preceding month, bringing a fresh perspective to the studio’s brand and community outreach efforts. Founder and long‑time president David Braben will transition to a non‑executive director role on 1 October 2026, while retaining his titles as president and founder.

Braben’s move is intended to free him up to focus on strategic oversight and mentorship rather than day‑to‑day operations. Strategically, Frontier is also moving forward with a high‑profile partnership with Disney. Under a newly signed agreement, the studio will develop and publish a new game that leverages Disney’s extensive portfolio of intellectual property. This collaboration is expected to broaden Frontier’s audience and open new revenue streams.

Looking ahead to the product pipeline, Frontier confirmed that Planet Zoo 2 is slated for release on 13 October 2026. The sequel promises expanded wildlife management features, deeper simulation mechanics and a richer visual experience. Another major title, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch, is on track to launch before the close of FY27, adding a beloved tabletop franchise to Frontier’s growing catalogue of premium games. The studio also revealed progress on its own content‑management‑system (CMS) game platform.

A new CMS‑based title built around Frontier’s original IP is now in full development and remains on schedule. The company’s ambition is to deliver, on average, one CMS‑driven game each year, thereby diversifying its portfolio and creating a sustainable pipeline of new experiences. CEO Jo Cooke summed up the year’s achievements, stating, “FY26 was a landmark year for Frontier. We delivered record financial performance, demonstrated the strength of our CMS strategy, and continued to invest in the world‑class franchises our players love, supporting vibrant communities and long‑term engagement across our portfolio.” Cooke added that the firm’s solid balance sheet, talented workforce and exciting roadmap position it well for continued growth, sustainable player value and long‑term returns for shareholders.

President David Braben echoed this optimism, noting, “I am immensely proud of what our talented teams have achieved together since I founded Frontier in 1994, and excited about the opportunities ahead. I have tremendous confidence in Jo as CEO to build on Frontier’s strong foundations and deliver long‑term success, together with the excellent leadership team.” Braben explained that his transition to a non‑executive role will allow him to concentrate on broader strategic contributions, including oversight of the studio’s game portfolio, and that he looks forward to supporting both Frontier and Cooke in the years to come.

Overall, Frontier Developments’ FY26 results showcase a company that has successfully combined creative excellence with rigorous financial discipline. By leveraging popular IPs, expanding into new partnerships, and investing in a robust CMS framework, the studio appears well‑positioned to sustain its upward trajectory and deliver continued value to players and investors alike.
