Daniel Alegre to Depart as Activision Blizzard President and COO

Original Report: Activision Blizzard will soon be without its president and chief operating officer. According to a recent 8K filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Daniel Alegre is set to leave the company to pursue another opportunity, with his current term ending on March 31, 2023. A successor has not been named at this time. Alegre initially joined Activision Blizzard in 2020, after serving as the president of global retail and shopping at Google. During his tenure as president and COO, the company has navigated multiple challenges, including government lawsuits related to workplace toxicity, civil rights, and pay law violations. Additionally, the company is currently the subject of a proposed $69 billion acquisition by Microsoft, which has encountered regulatory obstacles. Most recently, the Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit to block the acquisition. For more information on the regulatory hurdles, refer to our comprehensive guide. Update: Yuga Labs, the parent company of the non-fungible token collection Bored Ape Yacht Club, has announced Daniel Alegre as its new CEO. Alegre will assume the role in the first half of 2023, succeeding Nicole Muniz, who will remain at Yuga Labs as a partner and strategic advisor.
