Amazon Games Set to Publish Upcoming Tomb Raider Title

Amazon Games has entered into a publishing agreement with Crystal Dynamics for the next installment in the Tomb Raider series. This upcoming adventure, featuring Lara Croft, will be a single-player narrative game developed using Unreal Engine 5 and is currently in its early stages. Amazon Games is collaborating with Crystal Dynamics from the outset to bring their vision to life, covering all aspects from development to publishing. Crystal Dynamics studio head Scot Amos noted that the studio has a unique opportunity, following its acquisition by Embracer, to redefine the publishing relationship for Tomb Raider. Amos stated, 'We are seeking a transformative partnership, and we have found that Amazon Games shares our creative vision, ambitions, and values for the Lara Croft universe, spanning all possibilities. They are uniquely positioned to redefine publishing and development collaborations, and we are eager to embark on this new path together, starting with the creation of the most impressive Tomb Raider game yet.' This partnership represents Amazon's largest external signing to date. Amazon, which operates three internal studios in Montreal, San Diego, and Orange County, has also worked with Smilegate RPG on the release of Lost Ark and has announced a publishing deal with Bandai Namco for the online RPG Blue Protocol. Additionally, Amazon is publishing new IPs from Disruptive Games and Glowmade, both of which are developing online multiplayer games. Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider IP were among the Western studios and brands sold by Square Enix to Embracer in May. The developer is currently supporting Microsoft's Perfect Dark reboot for Xbox, alongside The Initiative.
