Playtika Announces Restructuring Efforts with 600 Job Cuts
Playtika, a leading mobile gaming company, is set to undergo significant restructuring, resulting in the loss of over 600 jobs. According to an email from CEO Robert Antokol, this 15% workforce reduction will also involve the cancellation of three games currently in development. The specific studios affected by these layoffs have not been disclosed. Moving forward, new game development will be overseen by Playtika's subsidiary, Wooga. In a statement, Antokol emphasized the need for the company to refocus on its core values of agility, efficiency, and creativity to deliver high-quality mobile entertainment. This strategy involves rebalancing teams, reassigning talent, and discontinuing non-core initiatives to achieve greater efficiency and optimization. This latest round of job cuts follows previous layoffs that occurred across various offices, including the closure of locations in Montreal, Los Angeles, and London in June, which resulted in 250 job losses, and the shutdown of Seriously, the developer of Best Friends, in October.
