Bend Studio Separates Itself from Ex-Director's Remarks
Bend Studios, the developer behind Days Gone, has issued a statement to dissociate itself from comments made by its former creative director, John Garvin. The studio emphasized that it does not endorse Garvin's sentiment. This move comes after Garvin posted a now-deleted tweet discussing the disappointing launch of Days Gone, attributing it to technical issues, reviewers who didn't fully engage with the game, and reviewers who were allegedly put off by certain character portrayals. Following backlash, Garvin made his Twitter account private. In response, Bend Studios stated that Garvin's personal opinions on the game's critical reception do not represent the views of the studio. The studio expressed pride in its work on Days Gone and gratitude towards the developers who contributed to the game, acknowledging the support from the game's community and looking forward to future projects. This is not the first time Garvin has been in the news for his controversial views, having previously suggested that Days Gone's lack of a sequel was due to players not purchasing the game at full price, and having left Sony in 2019 due to his disruptive personality.
