IGN Faces Significant Layoffs as Part of Ziff Davis Restructuring

Reports have emerged that IGN has implemented a round of significant layoffs, as confirmed by various current and former staff members on social media. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the layoffs have affected multiple departments within IGN, including content creation, engineering, and advertising sales, with the total number of redundancies reaching at least double digits. These cuts are part of a broader restructuring effort across Ziff Davis, the parent company of IGN, with other divisions also being impacted. Ziff Davis representatives have not yet responded to requests for confirmation and comment on the matter. This development follows a series of layoffs in the gaming and tech media sectors that began in July, with outlets such as Polygon, GameByte, and Game Informer being affected. Further layoffs occurred in September at Future and Fanbyte, as well as at the recently relaunched G4. The trend continued in October with the closure of G4 and the downsizing of Vice's editorial team.
