GameMaker Launches Complimentary Education Edition
GameMaker has introduced a free version of its platform, enabling educators to teach game design using its resources and materials without incurring costs. According to GameMaker, this non-paid program will facilitate students' understanding of fundamental programming concepts and foster STEM skills. The decision to release a free education version is attributed to the increasing budgetary constraints faced by educational institutions. "Game development is an engaging way to help students cultivate essential skills such as creativity, analytical thinking, and strategic planning," stated Russell Kay, head of GameMaker. "However, budget constraints are a significant challenge for schools worldwide, which prompted us to provide a complimentary solution." The platform also offers lesson plans suitable for high school and university-level students.
