Sega of America Expands with New California-Based Headquarters
Sega of America has unveiled the opening of its new office in Irvine, California, bringing together the internal publishing departments of Sega and its subsidiary Atlus under one roof. Global CEO Shuji Utsumi stated, "The inauguration of our new Sega of America headquarters marks the beginning of an exciting new era for a brand that has been a cornerstone of the gaming world." Utsumi emphasized that this new space is designed to promote collaboration and a positive team culture, enabling the creation of engaging stories and worlds for gamers worldwide. The office aims to enhance media streaming opportunities for the North American team and further solidify Sega's position in the market. Recent reports from Sega Sammy Holdings indicate that the Sonic the Hedgehog series has achieved 1.5 billion units sold as of March 2022, while international sales of Persona 5 have reached 77% of total sales by the same period. Furthermore, Persona 5 Royal's multi-platform release has sold one million units within a month of its launch.
