Apple Introduces Enhanced Pricing Options for App Developers

Apple has introduced significant changes to its App Store pricing structure, offering developers a wider range of pricing options from next year onwards. The updated model will include an additional 600 predefined price points, as well as 100 extra points available upon request, resulting in a total of 900 pricing options for developers to choose from. Prices will now range from $0.29 to $10,000, upon request. Furthermore, app developers will be able to manage currency, taxes, and conversions more efficiently, with automatic price generation across multiple territories based on a single store's price. This means that developers can set their price for one storefront and have their prices in other regions update automatically according to foreign exchange and tax rates. For instance, a Japanese game developer can set their price for the Japanese storefront, and their prices outside of Japan will adjust as foreign exchange and tax rates fluctuate. Apple will implement these pricing updates in the spring of 2023. Recently, the company also updated its App Store guidelines regarding cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), stating that both are allowed on the App Store as long as they do not redirect users to external payment methods.
