Court Decision: Cooking Mama: Cookstar Found to Have Breached Office Create's Intellectual Property Rights

The International Court of Arbitration has delivered a verdict stating that the distribution and sale of Cooking Mama: Cookstar by Planet Entertainment constituted an infringement of Office Create's intellectual property. In a recent statement, the owner of the Cooking Mama IP revealed the court's decision, emphasizing that the game's release was unauthorized and constituted unfair competition. Initially launched in 2020 for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, Cookstar is now being removed from the market by Office Create, with both digital and physical versions being withdrawn. Currently, the game is no longer available on the Nintendo eShop or the PlayStation Store. Office Create had previously announced its intention to take legal action against the game's publisher in 2020, citing concerns over the release. At that time, Planet Entertainment maintained that it had the right to release the game. Efforts are underway to confirm with Sony and Nintendo that Cookstar has indeed been removed from their digital storefronts.
