Twitch Achieves 1.8 Billion Hours of Viewership in October

Twitch garnered an impressive 1.8 billion hours of viewership in October, as reported by StreamElements and Rainmaker.gg's State of the Stream monthly report. Although this figure is substantial, it still falls short of the platform's record 2 billion hours watched in January. Meanwhile, Facebook Gaming experienced a slight resurgence, accumulating 342 million hours in October, up from 328 million in September. In contrast, YouTube Gaming continued its decline, with 272 million hours watched, down from 305 million in August. The debut of Overwatch 2 as the third most watched game on Twitch was a notable highlight, with familiar titles dominating the rankings. According to StreamElements CEO and co-founder Gil Hirsch, 'Twitch has reached a pivotal point, with a clear baseline established for 2022, representing a vast audience, albeit with subdued growth.' Hirsch attributes this trend to creators exploring diverse platforms, such as TikTok, rather than a decline in livestreaming's popularity, citing the collective growth of the livestreaming industry.
