BAFTA Unveils 2022 Breakthrough Talent

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced its 2022 Breakthrough participants, comprising 33 talented individuals from the UK and US, including seven rising stars in the gaming industry. These creatives, spanning film, gaming, and television, will benefit from professional growth opportunities and access to a global network, courtesy of BAFTA and supported by Netflix. The selection was made by industry experts and over 200 alumni of the Breakthrough initiative. This year's gaming representatives include Alyx Jones, dialogue editor for Elden Ring, Emily Brown, lead designer of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, Jamal Green, composer of Toem, Morag Taylor, principal technical artist of Total War: Warhammer 3, Zachary Soares and Luciana Nascimento, co-founders of Moonglow Bay, and Megan Fox, founder of Glass Bottom Games and programmer of Skatebird. "We are extremely proud of the significant impact our Breakthrough participants have on the screen industries and their subsequent achievements," stated BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip. "This is at the heart of BAFTA's mission, and we are deeply grateful to our industry partners, particularly Netflix, for their ongoing support of BAFTA Breakthrough." Launched in 2020, BAFTA Breakthrough builds upon the organization's work with Breakthrough Brits, which began in 2013.
