Bandai Namco Exceeds Sales Projections for First Half of Fiscal Year

Bandai Namco has unveiled its financial report for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, showcasing robust growth across all sectors. The key highlights include: Net sales of ¥477 billion ($3.2 billion), marking a 21.3% year-on-year increase, and a profit of ¥66.5 billion ($453 million), representing a 68.4% year-on-year surge. Digital entertainment sales reached ¥193 billion ($1.3 billion), up 29.6% year-on-year. The company's sales for the first half of FY2023 exceeded initial projections, with a notable 11.1% rise compared to Q1 expectations and a 21.3% increase from FY2022. Geographically, European sales experienced a significant 74.5% year-on-year boost to ¥45 billion ($307 million), while American sales grew 53.7% to ¥52 billion ($354 million), and Japanese sales rose 13.7% to ¥335 billion ($2.3 billion). The Digital Entertainment segment saw a 29.6% year-on-year increase, driven by home video games, which accounted for ¥85.1 billion ($580 million), a 52% rise, and 'network content,' which contributed ¥94 billion ($641 million), just shy of a 9% increase. The successful release of Elden Ring in February significantly contributed to the growth in home video games. Consequently, Bandai Namco has revised its full-year sales projections to ¥940 billion ($6.4 billion), a 5.7% increase over FY2022, surpassing its initial estimate of ¥880 billion ($6 billion).
