Activision Blizzard's Q3 Results Boosted by Diablo Immortal's China Launch
Activision Blizzard has released its Q3 earnings report, which shows that the launch of Diablo Immortal in China has helped mitigate the company's overall decline. Key figures include: $1.78 billion in revenue (a 14% year-on-year decrease), $1.83 billion in bookings (a 3% decline), and $435 million in net income (a 32% decrease). Monthly active users stood at 368 million, representing a 6% year-on-year decline but a 2% quarter-on-quarter increase. The Activision segment experienced a 25% revenue drop to $480 million, largely due to underwhelming performance of Call of Duty: Vanguard. However, the company is optimistic about the future, citing the recent launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and upcoming releases such as Warzone 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. Blizzard's revenue increased by 10% to $543 million, driven by the success of Diablo Immortal in China and the release of Diablo 2: Resurrected. The company's mobile revenue saw a 14% year-on-year increase, reaching $932 million. Blizzard attracted 31 million monthly active users, a 19% increase from the previous year. The King segment reported an 8% increase in net bookings, with revenue rising 6% to $692 million, driven by the enduring popularity of the Candy Crush IP.
