PS5 Sales Surpass 2 Million Mark in Japan

The PlayStation 5 has reached a significant sales milestone in Japan, with over 2 million units sold since its release in November 2020. According to data from Famitsu, the console achieved this feat in approximately 102 weeks. For comparison, its predecessor, the PlayStation 4, reached 2 million units sold in 90 weeks. The disc-based version of the PS5 has been the most popular, with 1.75 million units sold, while the digital-only model has sold 278,046 consoles. This news comes after the global sales of the PS5 surpassed 20 million units in June. Recently, Sony increased the recommended retail price of the console in several markets, including the UK, Europe, Canada, and Japan.
