Toxic Workplace Allegations Resurface at Chromatic Games

Chromatic Games, which rebranded from Trendy Entertainment in 2019, is facing accusations of maintaining a toxic work environment. The studio was previously investigated by Kotaku in 2013 for allegations of mismanagement, sexism, and excessive crunch time. A recent report by Polygon has highlighted that these issues may still be present, with sources stating that the company "burns out" employees and takes advantage of newcomers to the industry. Despite a restructuring effort after the initial allegations, Polygon found that 12 current and former employees reported ongoing problems, including unprofessional behavior, disorganized development processes, and the exploitation of new graduates by normalizing toxic work patterns. The sources attributed these issues to the return of co-founder Augi Lye in 2019, although some employees disputed this claim, citing a former employee's manipulative behavior as the root cause. Chromatic Games responded by stating its commitment to fostering a positive work environment and encouraging employee feedback to drive improvement.
