Sonic The Hedgehog Franchise Surpasses 1.5 Billion Copies Sold
As of March 2022, Sega Sammy Holdings announced that the Sonic The Hedgehog series has achieved a significant milestone, selling over 1.5 billion units worldwide, encompassing both paid and free-to-play titles, as disclosed in its integrated report for 2022. The company also released lifetime sales figures for its other notable gaming IPs. The Total War series, which debuted in 2000, has garnered 40.4 million units in sales. Both the Football Manager and Chain Chronicle franchises have sold 25 million copies each. The Persona series, launched in 1996, has sold 15.5 million units. Furthermore, the Persona 5 series has sold 7.22 million copies globally, with 77% of these sales originating from international markets as of March 2022. The Persona 5 franchise includes titles such as Persona 5, Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers.
