Japan Release of The Callisto Protocol Abandoned

The launch of the forthcoming horror game, The Callisto Protocol, has been cancelled in Japan due to the game's inability to secure an age rating from the Japanese Computer Entertainment Rating Organisation. An official statement from the game's Japanese Twitter account announced the cancellation, citing the inability to pass the CERO rating as the reason. The decision was reportedly made after the game's developer, Striking Distance, refused to remove certain violent content. Refunds will be issued to those who have pre-ordered the game. This development comes after the game's CEO, Glen Schofield, faced criticism for a tweet discussing the studio's intense working hours. The game is still scheduled to release in Western markets on December 2.
