Frontier Developments announced a landmark set of financial results in its latest June trading update, highlighting an unprecedented surge in profitability for the fiscal year ending 2026. The company reported that its adjusted operating profit climbed dramatically by 62 percent, reaching £21.4 million – the highest figure ever recorded in Frontier’s history.

This impressive performance was driven by a combination of strong market demand for its flagship games, disciplined expense control, and a favorable increase in tax and expenditure credits that the studio was able to capture. In its statement, Frontier emphasized that the adjusted operating profit figure excludes a one‑off £3.9 million gain that stemmed from the sale of publishing rights in the prior financial year.

Even without that exceptional item, the adjusted operating profit more than doubled on a year‑over‑year basis, underscoring the underlying strength of the business. Revenue also grew robustly, with total turnover rising 16 percent to £104.8 million. The bulk of this increase can be traced to continued strong sales of the Jurassic World Evolution 3 title as well as sustained demand for the Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo series, both of which remain core pillars of Frontier’s portfolio. The company’s operating profit reflected an even larger jump, up 97 percent to £25.0 million.

Frontier explained that this rise was the result of solid underlying trading performance complemented by a one‑off transitional tax credit of £4.4 million. Beyond the numbers, Frontier disclosed several strategic moves aimed at bolstering its long‑term growth trajectory. In July, the studio appointed Dan Lazarides as its new chief marketing officer, bringing fresh perspective to the company’s brand and promotional activities.

Meanwhile, founder and president David Braben announced that he will step down from his executive duties on 1 October 2026 to become a non‑executive director. Braben will retain his titles as president and founder, while continuing to provide guidance at a board level. A significant development on the partnership front is Frontier’s recently signed agreement with Disney.

The deal will see the studio both develop and publish a new game that leverages Disney’s extensive portfolio and intellectual property, marking a major expansion of Frontier’s collaborative network and opening doors to new audiences. Looking ahead to the product pipeline, Frontier confirmed that Planet Zoo 2 is slated for release on 13 October 2026, promising fans an evolution of the beloved wildlife management simulation.

In addition, the studio revealed that Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch will launch before the close of FY27, adding a high‑profile entry to the Warhammer franchise. Frontier is also investing heavily in its own content management system (CMS) platform. The company is currently developing a new CMS‑based game built around its proprietary IP, which is "in full development and on track" according to the leadership team.

The strategic aim is to deliver, on average, one CMS‑driven title each year, thereby diversifying revenue streams and deepening player engagement across multiple genres. CEO Jo Cooke summed up the year’s achievements, stating: "FY26 was a landmark year for Frontier.

We delivered record financial performance, demonstrated the strength of our CMS strategy, and continued to invest in the world‑class franchises our players love, supporting vibrant communities and long‑term engagement across our portfolio. With a strong balance sheet, a talented team, and an exciting roadmap ahead, we are well positioned to deliver sustainable growth, enduring player value, and long‑term returns for our stakeholders." President David Braben added his perspective, noting: "I am immensely proud of what our talented teams have achieved together since I founded Frontier in 1994, and excited about the opportunities ahead. I have tremendous confidence in Jo as CEO to build on Frontier's strong foundations and deliver long‑term success, together with the excellent leadership team.

This transition allows me to concentrate on what I can do to help that journey, including oversight of our games, and I look forward to continuing to support Frontier and Jo in the years to come." Overall, Frontier Developments’ FY26 results illustrate a company that is not only capitalising on its existing hit franchises but also laying the groundwork for future growth through strategic partnerships, leadership renewal, and a focused push into proprietary CMS‑driven experiences. The combination of solid financial fundamentals, a clear product roadmap, and a renewed executive team positions Frontier to sustain its upward momentum and continue delivering value to both players and investors in the years ahead.
