Veteran Game Designer Ferret Baudoin Passes Away
The senior game designer at Bethesda, Ferret Baudoin, has sadly passed away. A tribute group on Facebook announced the news, stating that he died unexpectedly on October 15, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Ferret was a devoted family man who shared a passion for life and gaming. His career in the gaming industry began in 1997 as a QA tester at Activision, and he went on to hold senior game design positions at various companies. Notable roles include lead designer on Neverwinter Nights 2 at Obsidian Entertainment and senior designer on Dragon Age II at Bioware. During his decade-long tenure at Bethesda, Ferret worked on Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and was also involved in the development of Starfield. Following the news of his passing, Jeff Gardiner, CEO of Something Wicked Games and former Bethesda employee, took to Twitter to express his condolences. 'I'm heartbroken,' he said. 'Ferret took over as lead designer on Fallout 76 for Wastelanders. He was an eternal optimist and a dear friend.' Emil Pagliarulo, design director at Bethesda, also shared his thoughts on Ferret's sudden passing. 'It's rare to meet someone who has been in the industry for so long without becoming cynical,' he said. 'Ferret was a shining exception. I will deeply miss his passion for games and his collaborative energy.'
