Google Introduces Cloud Gaming Chromebooks Following Stadia's Demise

In the aftermath of announcing the shutdown of its Stadia cloud gaming service, Google has released a lineup of Chromebooks specifically designed for cloud gaming. According to Eurogamer, the company has revealed details about the Ideapad Gaming Chromebook, Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip, and Acer Chromebook 516 GE, all of which have been engineered to meet the requirements for seamless game streaming. These devices boast high-resolution screens with a 120Hz refresh rate and have been tested by GameBench to deliver 120 frames per second with input latency of under 85ms. They will come equipped with either WiFi 6 or 6E connectivity and some models will feature RGB gaming keyboards. Each Chromebook will have Nvidia's GeForce Now pre-installed, along with support for Xbox Cloud Gaming and Google Play, while users in the US will also gain access to Amazon Luna. This announcement comes just weeks after Google revealed that it would be discontinuing Stadia on January 18, 2023, marking the end of its three-year run. Google has assured customers that all purchases made through the Stadia store will be refunded.
