European and Asian App Store Prices to Rise Next Month for Apple
In two weeks, Apple plans to increase the cost of all iOS applications and in-app purchases. According to a post on the company's developer blog, the new pricing structure will take effect on October 5, 2022, but it will only apply to certain regions. More specifically, the change will impact countries using the Euro, as well as Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, and Vietnam. Furthermore, Vietnam will see additional adjustments to comply with Apple's tax laws. The cost of auto-renewable subscriptions will remain the same, and developers who offer them will have the option to maintain the current pricing for their existing subscribers. The company has also released updated price tier charts, indicating that the minimum charge for games or in-app purchases will now be €1.19, up from the previous €0.99. Apple has assured developers that their earnings from purchases will be adjusted accordingly, based on the pre-tax price. Although the reason for the price increase is not specified in the post, it is believed to be related to fluctuations in exchange rates between the US dollar and the currencies of the affected regions.
