Tekken 8 Headlines Sony's Latest State of Play Presentation
This week's digital gaming event series concluded with Sony's State of Play, featuring several new game announcements, including the highly anticipated Tekken 8. The first trailer for the upcoming fighting game was showcased by Bandai Namco, with confirmation that it will also be released on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Tekken series, last seen in 2015 with Tekken 7, is set to make a comeback. Sony also provided an update on its PlayStation Stars loyalty program, which will launch in late September in key Asian markets, before expanding to the Americas and Europe. The program will initially be available on the PlayStation mobile app, with console integration to follow. Additionally, two new PSVR 2 titles were revealed: Demeo, a tabletop-themed adventure, and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge - Enhanced Edition, with no release date announced for the PSVR 2 hardware itself. Other notable announcements included Rise of the Ronin, a new open-world action RPG from Team Ninja; Pacific Drive, a driving survival adventure from Ironwood Studios; Synduality, a sci-fi third-person shooter from Bandai Namco; Stellar Blade, a newly titled game from Shift Up Corp; and Like A Dragon: Ishin, a Yakuza spin-off set for worldwide release in February 2023. Trailers were also shown for the PlayStation-exclusive quest in Hogwarts Legacy and God of War: Ragnarok, which is scheduled to launch on November 9.
