Square Enix Joins Oasys Blockchain as a Node Validator
Square Enix has intensified its blockchain endeavors by partnering with Oasys to become a node validator on the forthcoming blockchain. The company is collaborating with Oasys to develop an 'environmentally friendly, proof-of-stake' blockchain. As a node validator, Square Enix will store a copy of the blockchain and perform various functions to maintain the system's security. Oasys is slated to launch later this year, initially with 21 node validators, including Square Enix, Bandai Namco Research, Sega, Ubisoft, Netmarble, WeMade, Com2uS, and Yield Guild Games. The partnership also involves exploring the potential of leveraging user contributions to develop new games on the Oasys blockchain. Square Enix has emerged as a significant investor in blockchain technology, with its president, Yosuke Matsuda, highlighting it as a key strategic focus for 2022. The company established a dedicated Blockchain Entertainment Business division in April and has been accelerating its investment in core areas, including blockchain, AI, and cloud-based services.
