Veteran Battlefield Developer Lars Gustavsson Leaves EA After 22 Years
Electronic Arts has confirmed that Lars Gustavsson, a long-standing developer of the Battlefield series, is parting ways with the company and its subsidiary DICE. According to GameSpot, Gustavsson is set to pursue a new opportunity, although details about his next venture have not been disclosed. Having joined EA through DICE in 2000, Gustavsson spent 20 years working on the Battlefield franchise, earning him the nickname 'Mr. Battlefield'. In a statement, he expressed his pride in having played a significant role in shaping the series, but feels it is time for a new challenge. Gustavsson's departure coincides with the launch announcement of Ridgeline Games, a studio focused on developing a new Battlefield campaign.
