G Fuel Terminates Staff Following Complaints About CEO's Inflammatory Remarks
Warning: this article contains descriptions of discriminatory and misogynistic behavior. G Fuel let go of five talent managers just a day after they reported to HR the company's CEO, Cliff Morgan, for using derogatory language during a work meeting, as reported by Digiday. Digiday interviewed 11 current and former G Fuel employees, who shared accounts of senior management's unacceptable behavior, including a video conference where Morgan attributed declining sales to the talent management team, labeling previously laid-off staff as 'lazy' and using a derogatory term for people with intellectual disabilities to describe the current team members. Morgan allegedly assured the team that no one would be let go, but the next day, seven talent managers who attended the meeting were laid off, including the five who had complained to HR. A G Fuel representative claimed that Morgan's comments were general descriptions, not targeted at specific individuals. Since the firings, 75 partnered creators have severed ties with G Fuel in protest of how their primary contacts were treated, according to Digiday. The article also notes that three of the terminated talent managers were women and Morgan has a history of using misogynistic language on social media. Additionally, a C-suite executive is said to have accidentally exposed himself on a 40-person video call while showering.
