Netspeak Games Receives $12 Million Investment for Debut Product Launch
Netspeak Games, a UK-based game development studio, has successfully secured $12 million in Series A funding. The investment round was led by Lakestar and Project A, with additional support from Makers Fund and key industry figures, such as CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, Jagex CEO Phil Mansell, and Kepler Interactive investment director Catherine Chew. The studio, which operates remotely, plans to utilize the funds to drive development, expand its team, and enhance the launch of its inaugural game, Sunshine Days, a free-to-play mobile title currently in Early Access. Founded in 2019, Netspeak Games has assembled a team comprising veterans from renowned gaming companies, including PlayStation, EA, Rockstar, Sega, and King. To date, the studio has raised a total of $16 million in funding. CEO Callum Brighting expressed his enthusiasm for the funding, stating, 'I'm delighted to share this news with my team, and I'm proud of how we've navigated the challenges of building a company during a pandemic by prioritizing our studio culture and values.'
