ByteDance Cuts Hundreds of Jobs in Gaming Division
It has been reported that ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, has undergone significant layoffs in its video game sector, with hundreds of employees affected. According to sources, the Shanghai-based developer Wushuang Studio has seen the majority of its staff either let go or reassigned to other departments within the company. Additionally, Hangzhou-based developer Jiangnan Studio is also experiencing job cuts. Despite the downsizing, ByteDance plans to maintain certain gaming operations through its Shanghai office, prioritizing support for titles that are already live. This move comes after the company invested heavily in its gaming operations over the past few years, positioning it as a key pillar of its business. The news follows similar announcements from other social media companies, such as Snap, which recently laid off 20% of its workforce and put its gaming division on hold.
