Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Changes Hands from Aspyr to Saber

The highly anticipated remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has undergone a significant development shift, with Saber Interactive now at the helm. According to Bloomberg, the project was previously led by Aspyr Media, another Embracer subsidiary, before being transferred to one of Saber's European studios. This change in leadership comes after Embracer acquired Saber in 2020 for $525 million and Aspyr in 2021 for $100 million. In a recent financial report, Embracer revealed that one of its AAA projects had been reassigned to another in-house studio to ensure the title meets the required quality standards. Although Embracer does not expect significant delays, insiders close to the project suggest that completion is likely at least two years away. The KOTOR remake was put on indefinite hold last month after Aspyr let go of its art director and design director. A preview of the game, known as a vertical slice, was shared with Lucasfilm and Sony, but it failed to meet their expectations, leading to a reevaluation of the project's current direction.
