In July, the US video game market generated $4.2 billion in revenue, marking a 9% decrease from the previous year, according to NPD's latest report. Hardware sales experienced a 12% year-over-year increase to $362 million. However, software sales dropped by 10% to $3.7 billion. The PlayStation 5 led in terms of hardware spending, while the Nintendo Switch had the highest unit sales. On the software side, MultiVersus debuted at number one, with Elden Ring and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga following closely. Accessories sales declined by 22% to $148 million, with the PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller Midnight Black being the top-selling accessory.
