Xbox One Sales Trail Behind PS4 in Last Console Generation

According to documents submitted to Brazilian regulators, the PlayStation 4 has outsold the Xbox One by a factor of two in the previous console cycle. This information was revealed as part of Microsoft's defense of its planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard, in which the company addressed Sony's concerns about the potential exclusivity of the Call of Duty series on Xbox. Microsoft argued that Sony's concerns are unfounded, pointing out that PlayStation led the global digital console game market in 2021, with a 50-60% market share. The company also highlighted Sony's dominance in worldwide subscription services for console games, stating that Sony's opposition to the deal is merely a reflection of its resistance to competition from innovative newcomers like Game Pass.
