AimJunkies Takes Legal Action Against Bungie Over Copyright Allegations

In an effort to counter copyright accusations made by Bungie, AimJunkies has subpoenaed Valve as part of its ongoing legal battle. Phoenix Digital Group, the company behind AimJunkies, alleges that an unknown Bungie employee or contractor breached its software's terms of service by purchasing the product and sharing it with their employer. The firm has stated its intention to prosecute individuals or companies that violate its copyrights and terms of service to the fullest extent of the law. AimJunkies has requested information from Valve regarding Destiny 2's sales and player numbers from January 2017 onwards, as well as communication records and code related to Steam's overlay feature. The company claims that its in-game overlays are not illegal and that Steam offers a similar feature. Separate subpoenas have also been filed against PayPal and Google, seeking information on multiple individuals. AimJunkies asserts that Bungie's claims of harm caused by its software are unfounded, citing the game's popular months as coinciding with the time its products were available. The company aims to gather proof to disprove Bungie's allegations, which initially led to a complaint filed last year accusing Phoenix Digital and AimJunkies of copyright and trademark infringement. The case was dismissed in April due to insufficient evidence provided by Bungie.
