Game Engine Developer Our Machinery Shuts Down, Requests Source Code Deletion

Our Machinery has halted development of its game engine, just over a year after its launch, and is asking developers to delete installed copies. The company informed developers via email that work on The Machinery toolset has ceased and requested they remove any installed versions. In a statement, the company announced that developers will receive a full refund of their annual license fee. However, it has been noted that the request to delete source code was not part of the initial End User License Agreement (EULA). Our Machinery had been posting regular updates on the engine's development until April 2022, but the company's Twitter page has been inactive since then. The firm has not publicly announced the closure or provided an explanation. Prior to its launch, Our Machinery expressed ambitions to capture a significant share of the engine market by offering a 'hackable' engine, allowing developers to replace components with their own tools. The company's goal was to promote experimentation and diversity in the game engine space, enabling developers to create unique games.
