Nintendo Switch Production Faces Challenges Due to Supply Chain Disruptions

A crucial manufacturing partner for the Nintendo Switch is experiencing difficulties in obtaining essential components. According to a report by Bloomberg, Hosiden Corp, based in Osaka, has retracted its sales forecast for the fiscal year due to a combination of currency fluctuations and uncertainty surrounding semiconductor procurement. As a result, the company is unable to provide a reliable projection for the full financial year. Hosiden Corp generates over half of its revenue through its partnership with Nintendo on Switch production, suggesting that the company's struggles may impact Switch production. Nintendo has declined to comment on the matter. The company's first-quarter fiscal year results, scheduled for release on August 3, may reveal whether Hosiden's issues are affecting Switch sales. Previously, Nintendo cited the semiconductor shortage as a key factor in its 26% year-over-year decline in Switch sales, forecasting 21 million unit sales by March 31, 2023, marking the second consecutive year of expected console sales decline.
